Social Studies: Sign Language

As we talked about Hellen Keller, our class became very interested in learning some sign language. Here is a simple link that teaches students signs.

Our class watched part of the video and really enjoyed it. They caught on very quickly and memorized several of the signs.

Social Studies: Hellen Keller

This week we are finishing up our unit on Communication. Today we discussed Hellen Keller and the challenges she faced growing up. Today we did a few exercises to see what it would feel like to be blind and deaf. Below are some pictures of student working with partners to draw while being "blind". They really liked these activities and we had a wonderful discussion about how Hellen Keller had a lot of grit and perseverance.

Reading: Station and Group work

I absolutely LOVE my class! They are so kind, sweet, and smart. They work hard and put in a lot of effort. They also know how to work together. We have our routines set in place and my class is amazing with these. They are growing more independent each day. I am so proud to have them all!!!

Kahoot!

To help our students get a better understanding of the Personal Finance vocabulary we are learning about this week, Mrs. Luthi created a Kahoot game for us to play. This was so much fun for our class.  Feel free to get your own free Kahoot account at: https://getkahoot.com

Look for the Personal Finance game titled: Third Grade Personal Finance

I had students partner up and log in at kahoot.it. They answered questions and had a fantastic time.
