Snow!!!

We've had quite the weather this week. Two days of school were cancelled due to inclement weather (icy roads) and three days of "regular" class. Wednesday actually snowed, but it all melted before school ended. 

Today was a very fun time with snow that didn't melt. It started snowing around 9:30 (I think, my blinds were closed) and and didn't stop all day. We took a quick break outside to enjoy the snow.

Valentine Buddy Visit

WE took a quick 5 minute trip down to 1st grade to visit with our Buddies. Our class wrote Valentine's cards and delivered them to their buddy. Here are a few pics.

Valentine's Day Party

 The annual 50's Dress-Up for Valentine's Day was so much fun! We had a lot of fun playing games, opening our Valentine's, and eating our sweet treat. Thank you Mrs. House for planning our class party!

For Social Studies we have been reading about astronauts.We went into groups and one group did John Olivas. Here are some facts. His nickname is Danny. He is still alive and he was born in California .He also grew up in El Paso,Texas. His dream of becoming an astronaut began when he was seven years old. He has flown on two space shuttles. In 1998, ten years after he first applied for an astronaut, he was selected for an astronaut mission.

Brain Break

The Teeth Defenders by Kylie and Valerie

Today we watched a dental health video. It's about four kids, a dog, and two dentists. They live in a kid's mouth which is called Tooth City. Tooth City is being attacked by sugar monsters. So the kids and a dog help save their city. They used their super powers which are floss, tooth brush, and two toothpaste. They work together to take all of the sugary gumdrops and soda. They had to clean extra hard to get the germs off which is made by mixing the sugary gumdrops and soda. Then they finally cleaned the city. The sugar monsters left Tooth City and the town was happy, and their teeth was safe.The sugar monsters attacked Tooth City. The four kids defeated the sugar monsters. Tooth City was safe again.

You should floss and brush your teeth at least twice a day. You should brush your teeth for at at least two minutes so they will stay clean. It is very important to brush your teeth so you won't get cavities. You should change your toothbrush every three months, when it gets worn out, or when you're sick you should get you a new toothbrush and if you don't you would be putting germs back into your mouth. Plaque routines your teeth and puts germs in your mouth.

Ellen Ochoa by Jordan

Ellen Ochoa was born on May 10, 1958. She was born in Los Angeles, California. At first she wanted to be musician and then the first women astronaut, Sally Ride went into space which gave Ellen Ochoa the idea of becoming an astronaut. She had to go though lots of training to be an astronaut. some of her astronaut jobs were a mission specialist and a payload commander. She went into space four times. Her first mission was in 1993. Her second mission was in 1994. Her third mission was in 1999. Her last mission was 2002. She is still alive and is telling kids to work hard in school.

Quadrilaterals  are   2-dimensional.    Quadrilaterals  have  to  have    four  angels  four vertices and  four  sides.  And 3 sides or  6 sides shapes are NOT quadrilaterals.      Examples of  quadrilaterals are square  and   rectangles. Quadrilaterals  are  very   cool. Quadrilaterals  can  help you   with  math map test. So  you  need   to  learn  them . So they  can                         help you on your  math map tests.
